CODE LIKE KIDS

Code Like Kids is a unique, hands-on learning and development opportunity for industry designed to support collaboration, creativity, and charity. It features some of the most popular activities and coding devices used by young people, but anyone can take part as it requires no previous coding experience.

FROM EARLY YEARS

TO ENGINEERS

Code Like Kids is a unique, hands-on learning and development opportunity designed for adults. It features some of the most popular coding devices and activities used by young people around the world. It was developed by Digital Xtra, a leading Scottish charity supporting extracurricular tech activities for young people, based on the hundreds of initiatives supported by the charity over the years. It is designed around three key pillars – Collaboration, Creativity, and Charity. Anyone can take part as it requires no previous coding experience – it’s all about increasing confidence, improving team dynamics, and having fun!

Collaboration

Code Like Kids is designed to facilitate team building and develop communication skills while building staff morale through a series of fun and collaborative tech-based activities. Participants work together in teams to solve a series of challenges using various popular coding devices.

Creativity

The devices featured in Code Like Kids have been designed to naturally develop meta skills such as curiosity, problem solving, and resilience within the context of applied computing. However, participants require no previous coding experience – it’s all about having fun and improving team dynamics.

Charity

Proceeds from Code Like Kids supports the development of extracurricular tech activities and all participants are also recognised as a Supporter of Digital Xtra. Code Like Kids also strengthens community engagement by encouraging staff to volunteer at local tech or coding clubs.

Each session of Code Like Kids includes up to four modules featuring any or all the following devices (individual modules can also be booked):

  • Sphero indi

  • Marty The Robot

  • BBC micro:bit

  • LEGO Education SPIKE Prime

Code Like Kids is available with a £2,500+ contribution to Digital Xtra and can be delivered onsite anywhere in mainland Scotland over approximately 4 hours (max 15 persons per module).
