Digital Xtra is a registered charity whose goal is for every young person in Scotland to have access to innovative, meaningful, and creative extracurricular computing and AI activities. Since 2016, the charity has supported a wide variety of initiatives and activities for young people across Scotland.

CamCare UK
CamCare UK will offer STEM enrichment opportunities in ten Local Authorities across Scotland to foster curiosity and confidence in young innovators aged 7 to 16
The Institution of Engineering and Technology
Funding will allow The Institution of Engineering and Technology (The IET) to increase delivery of the Explore division of FIRST LEGO League in Aberdeenshire and Renfrewshire. Children will explore a real-world issues before building and programming a solution using LEGO Education’s SPIKE Essential kit.
North East Scotland College
North East Scotland College will create a new Digital Engineers Club for secondary aged pupils in the Fraserburgh area. The main objective will be to demonstrate the influence digital skills has in the renewable energy sector.
Hillside Primary School
Hillside Primary School in Aberdeenshire will develop a lunch time coding club for P6&7 pupils. Children will learn about robotics and games development using micro:bits as well as online resources to learn Scratch.
Edinburgh Science Foundation
Edinburgh Science Foundation will deliver activities featuring Marty the Robot across their Primary, Secondary, and Festival channels. Over 4,000 young people across multiple Local Authorities will have a chance to programme Marty to walk, dance, and even navigate an obstacle course.
Scottish Council for Development & Industry
SCDI's Young Engineers & Science Clubs will provide young people in Glasgow an opportunity to investigate energy usage in their school or home and then use the micro:bit to create a solution to reduce their consumption
Aberdeen Science Centre
Aberdeen Science Centre will develop a digital-themed workshop to introduce young people, community groups, and families to the world of programming and cyber security.
Rayne North School
Support from Digital Xtra Fund will enable the club to purchase additional laptops and increase capacity at their popular after school club by around 40%.
Edinburgh Science
In addition, Edinburgh Science will also deliver a touring workshop in Aberdeenshire and Perth & Kinross focussing on coding as part of their Generation Science programme.
Cromar Future Group
Cromar Future Group is a community lead charity giving young people in rural Aberdeenshire the opportunity to develop their digital skills. The club focuses on coding but also incorporates other digital skills such as robotics, electronics, graphic design, filming and stop motion. This multifaceted approach helps engage a wider variety of young people and ensures participants are learning important skills whilst also having fun.
Scottish Council for Development & Industry
Little Lighthouse is a first level interdisciplinary project for P2-P4 pupils which uses the context of lighthouses to introduce little engineers to various STEM concepts including electricity, light, sounds and coding.
Banchory Primary School
Banchory Primary School will be delivering Robot Dance Off, a 7-week challenge to code a Dash robot to dance in a choreographed way.
Raspberry Pi Foundation
The Raspberry Pi Foundation will create 76 new after school Coding Clubs. Currently around 4,500 children across Scotland aged 9-11 years old benefit from this project. These new clubs will help reach at least another 1,000 pupils by the end of April 2017.
Apps for Good
Apps for Good will deliver courses in Aberdeenshire, Highlands, Orkney, and Perth & Kinross teaching young people to build, market, and launch digital products, from apps to IoT devices.
Turriff Academy
Turriff Academy is a rural secondary school in Aberdeenshire who will explore the real-world application of drone technology, particularly in a rural setting.
Skene School
Skene School is a small, semi-rural school in Aberdeenshire who will run Project: Robotic HEARTS for P1 to P7 learners. P6/7 Young Leaders will support the delivery of a series of lunchtime code clubs for their peers and younger learners. Participants will use Minecraft, VEX IQ, and Sphero BOLT+ and indi coding robots.
